Sheriff Guide | WEAPON DUELS

Welcome to the sheriff side of WEAPON DUELS — the Roblox pad-queue PvP title from Twin Comets (place 82983707799188). Most sheriff guides on YouTube were written for the inspiration game Murder Mystery 2; this page is scoped to the gun-and-knife pad duels format here, where sheriffs trade at mid range, hold angles on the duel pad, and rarely have to chase down the entire lobby.

This is a role-specific companion to Getting Started and How to Win. If you have not yet picked abilities, read Abilities first, then come back.

What being a sheriff actually means in WEAPON DUELS

In the classic MvS loop you are the gun side. Your knife exists for emergency point-blank punishes, but the duel resolves through:

  • Range control — pushing the opponent out of melee reach on a flat map like House, then tapping them down.
  • Pad angles — fighting from cover corners, prefiring lanes, denying free knife dashes.
  • Cooldown tracking — Dash, Shroud, and Weapon Buff all have audio and visual tells; recognising them is the difference between a free round and a free kill.

If you queue for 2v2 and 4v4 pads, you also take on team fight priorities — peel for teammates, hold sightlines, and call out cooldowns in chat using the Map Callouts we have already documented.

Loadout order for sheriffs

Stars are tight when you start. Spend them in this order so you are competitive inside your first ten duels:

  1. Dash — 3,750 Stars. Lets you close distance to a knife-toting opponent or escape when you whiff a shot. Mandatory.
  2. Revolver / Sawed-Off — whichever gun your tier list entry shows in the top three. The gun matters more than the knife for sheriffs.
  3. Shroud — 5,000 Stars. After Dash is muscle memory, the invisibility on a poor trade lets you reset the round without dying.
  4. Weapon Buff — 6,000 Stars. Late-game unlock for sustained gun damage in 4v4 pads.
  5. Battle Pass tier perks — read Battle Pass for the Sheriff coin-bonus tiers so every duel passively funds your next ability.

Avoid buying the lobby-bling weapons until your abilities are stable — the Trading Value List shows those items lose 30–60% of their value once a season ends.

Pad-format playbooks

The duel pad size changes your sheriff priorities drastically:

  • 1v1 pads — play slow. Walk, crouch-jiggle, watch for a Dash audio cue, then commit to one clean shot. If you miss, retreat — never panic-swing a knife at gun range.
  • 2v2 pads — assign lanes with your teammate (long lane / short lane). Hold the long lane with your gun; let your partner take the knife dash with a counter-Shroud if you can afford it.
  • 3v3 pads — third teammate acts as floater; roam between pads, peel for whoever gets dashed on, and trade kills.
  • 4v4 pads — split 2/2 across both halves. Coordinate Weapon Buff on the two sheriffs fighting the same opponent so they die in two shots.

How to read the round before it starts

Inside the duel pad countdown you have roughly 3 seconds. Use them:

  • Note the opponent’s knife — Butterfly is fast on M1 but telegraphed; default Knife is a safe bet.
  • Note the gun — Sawed-Off has a long equip sound and a brutal close-up burst; revolver has a faster swap and better mid-range DPS.
  • Watch the map geometry — House has a back-corner sightline sheriffs can hold for two round wins if they pre-aim.
  • Decide first move — chase for a knife trade, or back off to mid range and let them come to you.

A good sheriff rarely throws the first attack; a great sheriff throws the second one perfectly.

Anti-sheriff habits to punish

  • Panic knifing at range — if the murderer starts spamming M1, back off one step and tap them.
  • Predictable Shroud timing — every Shroud has a 0.4-second vanish and a 0.4-second reveal; train your audio cues.
  • Bunny-hop Dash — Dash goes on cooldown the moment you land. Whiff-punish with a body shot, do not chase.
  • Weapon Buff trading — if you hear the buff SFX, mirror it with your own Weapon Buff on the next round so trades stay equal.

For a deeper breakdown of ability timing, the Ability Combos page walks through Dash + Shroud + Weapon Buff chains per pad size.

Mistakes sheriffs make in their first 50 duels

  • Buying knives they never use — Butterfly is cool but the default Knife is enough until level 50.
  • Standing still — the duel pad punishes camping because of how the camera shake works on hit confirm. Micro-strafe every shot.
  • Trading Knife for Knife with a Murderer — they are tuned for that exchange; you are not.
  • Ignoring the round counter — first to six wins. Stop trying to ace round one.

FAQ

Q: Should I use a sniper as sheriff? A: Snipers feel strong on Aztec long lanes but they lose to Dash hard. Run revolver or Sawed-Off until you can consistently land mid-range body shots; only swap to a sniper once your Crosshairs page setup is dialed in.

Q: Do sheriffs get bonus Stars in 4v4? A: No. Stars reward duels won, not roles filled. Sheriffs in 4v4 actually earn slightly less because they die more often. Bank early Stars, then experiment with How to Earn Stars routes.

Q: Is there a sheriff vs murderer counter chart? A: Each weapon tier entry on the tier list tags whether it favors sheriff or murderer play. Use that as your reference instead of fan-made tier infographics.

Q: What is the best sheriff ability combo on House? A: Dash to close distance after a whiffed shot, then Shroud to recover when the murderer counter-dashes. Weapon Buff stacks on revolver for two-shot kills against full-hp opponents.

Q: Can sheriffs report murderers for cheating? A: Yes — see Anti-Cheat for the report flow and what Twin Comets actually bans.
