Combo Guide

Combos in WEAPON DUELS turn the knife-versus-gun triangle into round-winning plays. A successful combo links knife throw, ability activation, and weapon swap into a single fluid sequence that catches opponents off guard. This guide teaches the high-value combos used by top players in 1v1 through 4v4 pads, explains how Season 2 ability tweaks affect timing, and shows you when each combo fits your loadout.

If you are new to the duel pad loop, start with Getting Started and Controls before learning combos. This page assumes you know Q/F binds, E throw, and basic movement.

Why combos matter more than aim alone

Better aim wins gun duels. Better combos win knife trades and ability mind-games. In WEAPON DUELS, most rounds are decided in the 2–4 second window after a successful ability commit — not in a prolonged aim battle. Learning when to throw, when to Dash, and when to hold your ability separates consistent winners from players who rely only on crosshair placement.

Core combo building blocks

Before chaining anything, understand the four inputs you combine:

InputActionUsed in combos for
LMBShoot gun / stab knifeFinishing low-HP targets; gun trades
EThrow knifeBurst damage; punishing reloads; spacing control
QPrimary ability (Dash, Shroud, etc.)Repositioning; dodging; setup
FSecondary ability slotUtility when Twin Comets enables dual slots

Essential combo: Knife Throw → Dash

The most common and highest-value combo in WEAPON DUELS. Execute when:

  1. Opponent is mid-reload at close range
  2. You have Dash available and a knife equipped
  3. You are on House or Aztec interior where corridors limit escape routes

Sequence:

  1. E — Throw knife for ~40% HP chip on the reload target
  2. Q (Dash) — Close the distance before they recover
  3. LMB — Stab or shoot to finish while they are repositioning

This combo works because most players reload immediately after a gun trade loss. The knife throw punishes the reload animation; Dash prevents them from re-aiming cleanly. Season 2 Dash cooldown (~5.5s) is slightly shorter than pre-Season 2, meaning this combo is available more often per round.

Counter: If the opponent holds Shroud and activates it after your throw, the Dash commits you into a blind duel. Read Shroud use before committing Dash in 1v1.

Gun combo: Peek → Weapon Buff → Burst

For gun players who anchor mid-range on Aztec plazas or House corridors:

Sequence:

  1. Peek the corner with crosshair at head height
  2. Q (Weapon Buff) — Activate for +50% gun fire rate (Season 2 value)
  3. LMB — Burst two shots before the opponent can track your strafe
  4. E — Throw knife if they duck behind cover low HP

Weapon Buff is strongest on gun players because Season 2 increased the gun-side buff to +50% (up from +45%). In 2v2, one teammate Weapon Buffs while the other holds a crossfire angle.

Shroud combo: Ambush flank

For knife mains who play House interiors or Aztec side lanes:

Sequence:

  1. Route behind the opponent using cover
  2. Q (Shroud) — Activate before entering their vision
  3. E → LMB — Throw + stab before Shroud expires (~2s effective window)
  4. If they survive, Dash away before they re-aim

Shroud is A-tier on the Abilities tier list because this combo is nearly undetectable at close range. Season 2 increased Shroud cooldown to ~7.5s, so time this carefully — one whiff costs you the round’s mobility tool.

Team combo: Crossfire + Buff

In 2v2 and 3v3, coordinate ability use with your teammate:

2v2 sequence:

  1. Player A (gun) holds a corner with Weapon Buff ready
  2. Player B (knife) activates Dash and flanks from a perpendicular angle
  3. As Player B closes, Player A peeks and fires — opponent tracks Player B, missing Player A’s peek
  4. Player B throws E to finish a distracted target

This works because the opponent must choose which threat to track. In 4v4, extend by adding a third player with Sprint rotating from outer lanes.

Sprint combo: Outer lane rotation

For Aztec outer lanes and House back routes where long sightlines punish slow movement:

Sequence:

  1. Identify a crossfire angle your team needs to collapse
  2. Q (Sprint) — Activate for ~2s of +50% movement speed (Season 2: ~14s cooldown)
  3. Use the speed window to cross the open ground without being an easy target
  4. Arrive at the angle and E or LMB depending on weapon

Sprint is a rotation tool, not a direct damage ability. Do not Sprint into a known aim duels — Sprint to arrive at an angle where you already have positional advantage.

Combo timing after Season 2 ability changes

Season 2 tweaked cooldowns, which changes how often you can chain combos:

AbilitySeason 2 cooldownBest combo use
Dash~5.5sThrow → Dash; dodge gun lines
Shroud~7.5sFlank ambush; one commit per round
Weapon BuffN/A (toggle)Gun peek; sustained trades
Sprint~14sLane rotation; map crossing

Because Dash is slightly faster, you can attempt the Knife Throw → Dash combo more times per match. Shroud being slower means ambush players should not throw it preemptively — save it for confirmed flanks.

Common combo mistakes

Throwing E too early — Many players throw at full-HP opponents in open space. Knife throw has a wind-up; you lose the trade while your animation plays. Only throw when opponent is in reload, stunned, or cornered.

Dashing into Shroud — If you see the opponent activate Shroud, do not Dash toward them. You will arrive blind and lose the knife duel.

Weapon Buff without positional cover — Activating Weapon Buff reveals your intent to peek. Use it from a position where you can fall back if the trade goes badly.

Sprinting across open ground — Sprint does not make you invisible. Experienced gun players will pre-aim common Sprint routes on Aztec outer lanes.

Practice routine for combos

  1. Five 1v1 rounds — Focus only on Knife Throw → Dash. Do not spam; wait for the reload punish window.
  2. Three 1v1 rounds — Practice Peek → Weapon Buff → Burst on House corridors.
  3. One 2v2 with a friend — Run the Crossfire + Buff combo and call timings.
  4. Five rounds on Aztec — Map your Shroud flank routes and Sprint rotation paths.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the most important combo in WEAPON DUELS?

Knife Throw → Dash is the highest-value combo for most players. It punishes reloads, closes distance, and is available more often after Season 2 reduced Dash cooldown.

When should I use Weapon Buff in combos?

Weapon Buff is best used during a gun peek where you have positional cover. Activate before peeking so the fire rate boost applies to your first shots.

Can I combo in 4v4 or only in 1v1?

Combos work in all formats but change in 4v4. Coordinate with teammates so one player distracts while another executes the combo from a flank.

How did Season 2 ability changes affect combos?

Faster Dash (~5.5s) means more combo opportunities per match. Slower Shroud (~7.5s) means you must be more selective about when to commit to an ambush.

What is the worst combo mistake?

Throwing E at full-HP opponents in open space. The knife throw wind-up leaves you vulnerable and loses the trade. Only throw when the opponent is in a punish window.

How do I practice combos safely?

Run five 1v1 rounds focusing only on one combo at a time. Do not try all combos simultaneously — master Knife Throw → Dash first, then add Weapon Buff peeks.
